Focus on these three areas to maximize your decorating efforts.
Maybe you’re dreaming of decorating your home as if it were a showcase at a luxury department store, but then reality strikes: You still have gift shopping and wrappers, parties to attend and host … and not to mention your daily life to live.
Don’t overwhelm yourself. Go for intentional minimalism. Some years, less is more.
Simple decor can still have a big impact – no less easy for you than some holiday commotion. You only need to work on three key areas in your home.
Aim for your tree
The most obvious place to start is your Christmas tree. For an easy, free tree, go with a monochrome color scheme.
Another option is to use all neutral colors so you don’t have to worry about balancing a color palette or tree – it will match the normal decor of any room.
Make your coat magical
If you have a fireplace in your home, the fireplace mantel is an ideal place to celebrate a little joy, but don’t make it too complicated.
Choose statement-making garland hang or drape across the top. Put candles on the fireplace to light at night, and you’ll be glad to go.
Remove your table
The holidays are a prime time to entertain, host and gather around the table. So bring seasonal talent to your table with a beautiful garland that can go a long way as a table runner.
Make the decoration as simple as placing a hearty garland in the center of your table and mixing candles for an extra atmosphere.
Decorating for the holidays doesn’t have to be a job. Focus on these three places, and your home will feel magical and ready for a vacation soon.
